Community Solar

At ÉireVolt, we are passionate about promoting community solar initiatives. We are aiming to empower a range of organisations and institutions such as schools, community centres and sports clubs to embrace solar energy.

By installing solar PV on rooftops or available spaces, we help them tap into a clean and renewable energy source. This not only reduces their electricity bills but also contributes to a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly future. Plus, it allows them to redirect their savings towards educational programmes, community activities, or sports development, thereby enhancing the overall wellbeing of the community.

One of the significant benefits of community solar is that it brings people together. It fosters a sense of collective responsibility towards the environment and the broader community. By enabling schools to teach students about clean energy and showing community centres how to cut costs while being eco-friendly, we create a positive ripple effect. The more organisations and groups that embrace community solar, the greater the positive impact on the environment and the local community. It’s a powerful way for these institutions to contribute to a sustainable future while reaping the rewards of cost savings.

Benefits

Reduced Energy Costs

Solar PV systems generate clean, renewable energy, significantly reducing your energy costs by decreasing reliance on the grid.

Energy Security

Solar power can act as a backup during power outages, ensuring business operations continue even when the grid is down when coupled with energy storage systems.

Income Generation

Boost your revenue by selling excess solar-generated electricity back into the grid.

Environmental Responsibility

Demonstrate your commitment to sustainability by reducing your carbon footprint and switching to clean energy.

Grants

Do you want to take a step toward cheaper energy costs and sustainability for your business or organisation? Businesses and organisations operating in the Republic of Ireland can avail of financial support from the government to encourage a switch to solar PV systems.

The Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) can help your business set up solar PV systems for generating electricity.

You can get a grant for systems up to 1000kWp, covering around 20-30% of your total installation costs. This can help you recover your investment in as little as five years.

The grant amount you receive is based on the standard output of your solar PV system. The maximum grant offering is €162,600 and this is available for systems from 1kWp to a maximum of 1000kWp.

The helpful ÉireVolt team will process all paperwork for grant applications on behalf of our customers, ensuring a seamless and efficient procedure from start to finish.

Accelerated Capital Allowance

The ACA scheme, or Accelerated Capital Allowance, is a tax incentive designed to help companies paying corporation tax in the Republic of Ireland. Its main goal is to motivate businesses to invest in energy-efficient equipment. Essentially, it’s a way to encourage companies to buy machinery and equipment that use less energy, which can lead to cost savings on energy and reduce the release of harmful gases into the environment.

Here’s the good news: if you participate in the ACA scheme, you can benefit a lot. The scheme lets you deduct the entire cost of purchasing energy-efficient equipment from your taxable profits in the year you buy it. This means you can potentially save a significant amount on your tax bill.

For example, if you invest in solar PV, they can qualify for the ACA scheme. This is a fantastic investment because not only do you get the tax benefit, but you also lower your electricity bills thanks to the energy savings from the solar panels. It’s a win-win situation for your business and the environment.
